Cougars Gone Wired does many things to help FIRST programs thrive in the community. There are many robotics activities the team participates in, including:
Southern Colorado FLL Regional
Our team members previously volunteered at this event when it was hosted by our friends Team 662. This past two years, we hosted this 48 team event ourselves at our home school Coronado.
(2012-2019)
Colorado Scrimmage
For the past seven years, Cougars Gone Wired has had the honor of hosting the Colorado Scrimmage. We build a new full sized practice field each year and set up in the Coronado gym so that teams from all over Colorado, and even other states, can practice with other teams before competition.
(2013-2020)
The Jr.FLL Showcase
Every year Cougars Gone Wired hosts the annual Southern Colorado Jr. FLL Showcase. We provide snacks and awards, our mentors serve as judges for the event, and we lead the kids through a team building exercise. Team members supervise the event and present our robot's to the kids. We are also lucky enough to have representation from all levels of FIRST at the event. The Jr.FLL teams get to present their own projects and see examples of all the higher levels of FIRST.
(2012-2019)
Jr. FLL
The Cougars mentored three Jr. FLL teams this year, based out of Howbert Elementary. Team members traveled to Howbert once a week to mentor the teams in preparation for the Jr. FLL showcase at Coronado.
(2012-2016)
Sea Perch
Sea Perch is an underwater robotics event where students are provided with a kit of parts to build a “Remotely Operated Vehicle” and they compete to complete an obstacle course underwater. Cougars Gone Wired hosted the event in our school’s cafeteria and pool. We assist those in need in assembling their robot, keep time during the competition, and untangle robots caught in the obstacles.
